WHO IS DOCTOR 24/7

  • Doctor 24/7 is a GP led first ever day & night service available 365 days of the year via : Audio & Video consultation nationwide and F2F consultation locally in Cork City and suburbs operational through ‘’City Medical Centre’’ by appointment only for any private patient  who can speak English, Urdu, Punjabi  or any other language  with interpreter at his/her own cost.
  • ’City Medical Centre’’ is a private service, operating since 2005 and has successfully provided nationwide services through the HSE under the GMS Scheme, Mother & Infant, Seasonal vaccinations and Drug Addiction schemes including Methadone/ Suboxone prescribing Programme along with professional occupational services as a Company Doctor to a number of cork based, multinational companies in the past.

WHO CAN AVAIL THE SERVICE?

Any private patients / clients
Any clients/ Employee of the following:
  • Tusla, Prison Services, Rail/Bus, an Garda Siochana.
  • Schools, Colleges, Universities, Sports Clubs
  • Respite, Rehabs, Nursing Homes, Multinational Companies.
  • All Insurance Companies

ARE YOUR DOCTORS LICENCED?

  • Yes, All our doctors are experienced, licensed General Practitioners and registered with the Irish Medical Council (IMC).

DO I HAVE TO PAY A CONSULTATION FEE?

  • Yes, according to the ‘’pricing list’’ attached until & unless your Nursing Home, Employer, Organisation, Insurance Company, has already agreed to settle the account on your behalf through an agreement in with us or written instruction transmitted directly to our services for invoicing.

Note:   Please be aware, We do not accept Medical Card/ GP Visit Cards until and unless HSE has already agreed with us for any special scheme (Eg. Covid care , Flu/ Winter special Scheme , Mother & Infant Scheme, Drug addiction treatment programme.

WHAT’S THE APPOINTMENT BOOKING PROCEDURE ?

  • Call our dedicated team available 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year.
  • Visit the website/ scan the bar code, fill in the appointment request form by providing the required mandatory information for AUDIO/ VIDEO/ F2F Consultation at your preferred date and time (subject to availability)
  • If your preferred slot is not available, we can arrange one of our dedicated team/ Doctors to advise you accordingly.

WHAT IF MY GP IS NOT AFFILIATED WITH DOCTOR 24/7?

  • Its not a problem. Doctor 24/7 is a private service and this is not mandatory for your current, previous or usual doctor to be affiliated with us until and unless they wish to do so.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE RECORDS OF MY APPOINTMENT?

  • Please read our GDPR Policy
  • Under the GDPR and FOI act, you or your representative after your written consent can make a request in writing for any medical records held under Doctor 24/7
  • Nominal fee would be charged for this service and the minimum processing time would be 28 days.

WHAT CAN YOUR DOCTORS TREAT?

  • In case of an emergency, dial 112/ 999 or National Ambulance service.
  • Doctor 24/7 do not treat any acute life threatening medical or surgical emergencies for which you are always REQUIRED & ADVISED  to call 999/112 or attend the nearest A&E.
  • Doctor 24/7, only treat or give you advice on non -life threatening medical /surgical illness which in general are not suitable for hospital emergency services.
  • Like any GP, our Doctors are able to assess and treat any acute minor medical or surgical condition (except out of spectrum condition mentioned above) by prescribing medication or referring you to the nearest hospital A&E if required urgent Investigation/ intervention/ advice accordingly.
  • As a policy matter, most of the time you would be seen within few hours on the same day.
  • We do not provide house calls in general except  Nursing homes, Respites and Garda stations subject to availability of the staff and time slot due to the large catchment area.  
  • For any urgent house call please contact the practice you are registered with or ring 999 / 112.

WHAT TIME DO YOU OPEN?

  • We are open 24 hours, 365 days of the year. (By appointment only)

CAN YOUR DOCTOR ADMINISTER ANY MEDICATION DURING THE APPOINTMENT?

  • Yes, if there is a need, Like any other GP, Doctor 24/7 carry ONLY usual stock of medication required for the ‘’Emergency Bag’’ which include some Life saving Injections, Suppositories, Oral Meds, Spray, Nebulizing ampules, Gels, etc.  
  • After the consultation, Our doctors will only prescribe the required medication (if needed) which need to be filled up through your regular or  local pharmacy if open at that time.

DO I NEED TO BE REGISTERED WITH YOU TO GET AN APPOINTMENT?

  • Yes, If need to be consulted , certified or need to be referred to another health care provider, we need certain mandatory information by:
    1. Talking to the dedicated team over the phone for making the appointment
    2. Scanning the barcode or visiting the web site and completing the appointment / repeat script request form available on the website.
    3. Providing your preferred date and time for audio/ video or F2F consultation subject to the slot availability.

WHAT IF I NEED FURTHER MEDICAL CARE?

  • Like any other general practitioner, our doctors after their assessment/ consultation if needed, depending upon the circumstances, will arrange or draw blood sample which would be despatched to the local hospital/ laboratory through the next available courier service, or arrange further invasive/ non- invasive investigation including Xray, scans and referral to  any specialist consultant if needed

WHAT ARE YOUR METHODS OF PAYMENT?

  • We accept Cash, visa credit or debit cards through the link provided online before the consultation is carried out.
  • All audio/ video consultations need to be settled upfront when making the appointment and all F2F consultations can be paid in Cash/ Visa / Debit card at the reception for which a receipt will be provided of your record. 

 Note:  Please be advised that We do not accept Personal Cheques / Medical cards.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I CANCEL MY APPOINTMENT?

  • Absolutely no problem. Depending on your appointment scheduled, it can be cancelled/ rescheduled and a refund will be processed according to the practice policy, subject to written cancellation request at least 45 minutes before the scheduled appointment.

HOW DO I MAKE A COMPLAINT IF NEEDED?

  • We have a complaint policy available with the practice administrator, who will guide you through the process. Please do not hesitate to write back to us if you have any concern and we welcome all feedback from our patients.
